Months Behind on Your Books? Anthony Gets You Caught Up, No Judgment
If your books haven't been touched in months, or years, you're not alone, and it's fixable. The longer bookkeeping sits untouched, the more missed deductions, inaccurate numbers, and blind decision-making pile up, and by tax season it's often too late to fix quietly.
Books by Anthony is a solo bookkeeping practice built for contractors, trades professionals, and real estate investors across San Antonio and beyond. Cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping is a core part of what Anthony does, not an afterthought. You get direct access to Anthony, not a rotating staff, and a clear plan to get current, with flat, transparent pricing agreed before you commit.

Common Questions
My books are a mess, or months behind. Can you still help?+
Yes, this is one of the most common ways clients come to me. Cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping is a core part of what I do. We start by reviewing exactly where things stand, then work month by month to get you current and accurate, no judgment, just a clear plan to get you caught up.
What's the difference between cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping?+
Catch-up bookkeeping means recording what should have been entered but wasn't, usually because books were ignored for a stretch of months. Cleanup bookkeeping means your records exist but have mistakes or inconsistencies that need to be corrected. Most businesses that come to me need some of both, and that's fine, the starting point doesn't matter as much as getting to accurate.
How far back can bookkeeping cleanup go?+
There's no hard limit, cleanup can go back multiple years if needed. In practice, the question isn't how far back you can go, it's how far back you need to go to support your taxes and give you numbers you can actually use. For most businesses that means at least the current tax year, sometimes further.
How long does catching up months of bookkeeping actually take?+
It depends on how far behind you are and how messy the records are. A few months behind with reasonably clean records can be a matter of weeks. Multiple years behind takes longer. Either way, I'll tell you a realistic timeline as part of your proposal, not after we've already started.
What happens if I don't clean up my books before tax season?+
Your accountant ends up guessing, or you end up filing with numbers that aren't accurate, which means missed deductions and decisions made without real information. Cleaning up before tax season, not during it, is what actually saves you money and stress.
What do you need from me to get started on a cleanup?+
Bank and credit card statements for the period we're catching up, and access to whatever accounting software you're currently using, or QuickBooks Online if you're starting there. I'll tell you exactly what's needed once I've reviewed where your books currently stand.
What's the difference between a bookkeeper and an accountant?+
I handle the day-to-day: recording every transaction, reconciling your accounts, and making sure your books are accurate every month. Your CPA or accountant uses those books to file your taxes and give you tax strategy. Think of me as the person who keeps your numbers clean, so when tax season comes, your accountant isn't starting from scratch.
